I.
CHARACTER SETUP SCREEN
This page will briefly address
the character setup process, and various
elements of said screen.
The above image has been
labeled with numbers for each section of
the interface to make it easier for you
to find each section referred to in the
text. However, your screen will not show
the same colors as in this image. We have
color-coded each area of the image to help
identify the number and the section it refers
to.
1. Class Selection
- This section shows the possible classes
you can play. They are divided into two
teams, the Chosen and the Order. As you
highlight a class, a description of it appears
in the right half of the screen. As you
click on a class, a set of specifications
for it will appear in section 3, where you
can change the details as you wish. Note:
This section is NOT for selecting the class
you are going to play, it is to set the
specific characteristics for ALL of your
classes. In the game, you will be able to
choose to play any of these classes, and
switch between them when you wish during
game play.
2. Changing Your
Name - This is the mysterious
ominous place for you to specify your name,
that will be viewed by others in-game, to
change your name, simply click where it
says “Player”, delete that, and proceed
to enter your own name. Note: The name you
select will be the same for each class,
the only way to play with a different name
is to use a separate profile.
3. Customizing
Your Details - This is pretty
simple, simply click on the plus or minus
arrows to add points to each section, the
points you have to distribute are limited,
and it tells you how many remaining points
you have to distribute. You can specify
a different layout of DETAILS for each class.
4. Skills Available
- This lists the skills available to the
currently selected class.
5. Using Predefined
Sub-Classes - These are ready
to go, predefined layouts for DETAILS, you
do not need to set these, if you click on
one of these it will switch your DETAILS
layout to the predefined one.
6. Arms Available
- This tells you which weapons are currently
available to the selected class respective
to your DETAILS layout.
II.
USING PROFILES
If you plan on using various profiles,
you will need to go to the “Profile”
tab PRIOR to creating a DETAILS layout.

Then click “Create”,
enter a name for this profile(this is not
the name that will appear in-game), click
ok, then move over to the “Character
Setup” tab and layout your details.
You do not need to load a profile when you
re-launch PURGE in the future, unless you
wish to switch. To load a profile, click
on the profile you wish to use, then click
“Load”. Each profile saves your customized
attributes for all 8 playable classes. You
**cannot** change these attributes
DURING game play, you must abort the game
and go to the character setup screen, this
was a design decision made to prevent people
from a) changing their character setup in
mid game and b) to prevent people from taking
up server resources when they aren't playing.
Each profile also saves
a separate player name, and all key bindings.
Profiles are designed not just to allow
you to have different configurations, but
to allow multiple players to share one computer
with Purge.
